The Wisconsin Women, Infants and Children program is celebrating it’s 50th anniversary. Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says in Fond du Lac County the WIC program serves 2000 people and provides access to key health building blocks at critical times in life. The Chief Medical Officer for the Department of Health Services says WIC has helped reduce fetal deaths and infant mortality, reduce rates of low birth weight, iron deficiency, anemia, and childhood obesity.
