11-5-24 bbb: thank a business month

Milwaukee, Wis. – Consumer experiences matter to Better Business Bureau – and businesses! BBB customer reviews allow customers to post reviews about marketplace experiences with businesses, brands, and charities. So, for our second “Thank a Business” month, BBB is asking everyone to take a minute and write a customer review.
“Favorable feedback is a valuable asset for any business, and positive reviews go a long way,” said Lisa Schiller, Senior Director of Media Relations at the Wisconsin Better Business Bureau. “BBB welcomes customer reviews, which cannot be undervalued. Sharing a good experience is encouraged as it highlights, influences, and celebrates a business.”
Why customer reviews?
Reputation can mean everything, especially for a small business owner trying to attract and retain customers. The best way a business can tell this story is through online customer reviews. We know that many small businesses have a difficult time receiving positive reviews, responding to negative ones, and marketing reviews to help their business grow.
BBB customer reviews – A trusted review source
BBB works to vet each reviewer when a comment is submitted to check for authenticity. And while it’s next to impossible to guarantee that every comment is legitimate, here is how BBB tries to ensure accuracy and transparency.
  • BBB validates the email address or phone number of reviewers.
  • Allowing the business to respond to a customer review and share their side of the story before it is published.
  • Allowing the reviewer also to submit comments on the customer review. Comments from third parties are not allowed.
  • Not allowing anonymous reviews or reviews where the consumer received compensation.
  • Customer reviews are posted to the company’s BBB Business Profile

BBB has other ways you can show your appreciation and “thank a business” in November:

1. Refer your family and friends

2. Connect and engage on social media

3. Make a purchase

4. Leave a generous tip

5. Participate in a special promotion or event
