Data released by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction this week showed that 84% of Wisconsin public schools met, exceeded or significantly exceeded expectations for the 2023-24 school year, up slightly from 83% the previous school year. In Fond du Lac County St. Mary’s Springs Academy exceeded expectations, while Fond du Lac, North Fond du Lac, Oakfield, Waupun, Rosendale-Brandon, and Winnebago Lutheran Academy all met expectations. “We are incredibly proud to be recognized, for the fourth year in a row, as exceeding expectations on the Wisconsin State Report Card,” said Stacey Akey, President of St. Mary’s Springs Academy. “This achievement is a testament to the dedication of our outstanding educators, staff, and the hard work of our students. Our continued success reflects the strong partnership between our faculty, families, and the greater Fond du Lac community. It is truly a reflection of the value we place on providing a well-rounded education that prepares our students for success in college, career, and life.” The report cards rate performance in a given school year and are a way to measure how schools and districts are doing overall, beyond standardized exam scores. On those report cards, the DPI focuses on four priority areas: achievement, growth, target group outcomes and on-track to graduate. The achievement and growth priority areas are “weighted based on a district or school percentage of economically disadvantaged pupils, as required by state law,” according to the agency’s news release about the 2023-24 report cards.
