A Fond du Lac County man is in custody following two high speed chases in the city of Fond du Lac involving a stolen vehicle. The 18 year old man was arrested after crashing the vehicle and is being held at the Fond du Lac County Jail on several felony charges. Chief Aaron Goldstein stated, “We are thankful for the quick and coordinated efforts of our Officers who pursued the stolen vehicle with caution and professionalism. This arrest demonstrated the unwavering commitment of our Officers in protecting our community and ensuring that those who break the law are held accountable for their criminal actions here.” The first chase started shortly before 11pm Sunday after police located a vehicle matching the description of a stolen car from Ripon in the 100 block of E. 12th Street. The pursuit was terminated after officers lost sight of the vehicle. A short time later the vehicle was spotted on Birchwood Court and a second pursuit continued north on S. Park Avenue. The vehicle ran over a tire deflation device, and the chase ended when the driver failed to negotiate a curve at North Park Avenue and Lighthouse Court near Lakeside Park and crashed into trees. The suspect and only occupant of the vehicle was taken into custody, and transported to St. Agnes Hospital with minor injuries and then to the Fond du Lac County Jail.
