Former Ripon Area Fire District Chief Tim Saul is accused of defrauding the department. Saul was charged Monday afternoon in Fond du lac County Circuit Court with three misdemeanor counts of financial transaction card-use to defraud. According to a criminal complaint Saul allegedly used an RAFD-issued credit card over several years for almost $43,000 for personal expenses including payments to the Chicago Cubs, a California AirBnB, two Wisconsin Dells water parks and to his wife’s business. Each count carries a maximum penalty of nine months in prison and a $10,000 fine. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for December 23rd. Saul resigned from the post a little more than two years ago.
