1-3-25 sandi paws rescue gets new permanent home

A decade after its inception an organization in Fond du Lac that placed nearly 800 rescued dogs and cats in safe and secure homes in 2024 has purchased it first permanent home.
Sandi Paws Rescue of Fond du Lac expects to be fully operational at the new location, 288 W. Ninth St., by the end of February 2025. The building will house rescue operations, offices, supplies, donations and equipment. Until the new space is ready, donations can be left at the 29 W. Bank St., FDL, location, or as always through the website sandipaws.org.   The all-volunteer, donation-based non-profit organization has helped place thousands of dogs and cats in forever homes over the past 10 years. Sandi Paws started in founder Victoria Timreck’s home. Over the years it expanded to a rented location on North Main Street in Fond du Lac, with supplies stored in two rented storage sheds.
“This building is a dream come true,” said Timreck. “We didn’t expect this to happen so fast, but thanks to the generosity of our donors and successful fundraising we were able
to move forward.”  The building does need some work: painting, flooring, electrical, insulation, roofing and plumbing. Volunteers have already begun painting and tearing up flooring. But more help is needed. Anyone interested in donating money or supplies or helping transform the space into a home for Sandi Paws should contact  sandipawsrescue@gmail.com or call 920-948-1311.  The new space will not house rescued cats and dogs. The organization will continue to place rescued dogs and cats in foster homes while they await adoption. Monthly adoption events also will continue at the Fond du Lac County Fairgrounds Recreation Center.  Sandi Paws is always seeking volunteers to fill a number of roles. To help, fill out a volunteer application or email sandipawsrescue@gmail.com.
