EAA AVIATION CENTER, OSHKOSH, Wisconsin — (January 8, 2024) — Programming for the new year is in full swing at the EAA Aviation Museum with events ranging from guest speakers to hands-on activities for all ages. Most events are included with regular museum admission, while EAA Members can always attend free of charge.

The museum’s monthly Speaker Series events return starting January 16 featuring a lineup of unique speakers across different sectors of aviation.

  • January 16: F-14 Tomcat pilot Hermon C. Cook III will share his story of being one of two American F-14 Tomcats to engage two Libyan MiG-23s over the Gulf of Sidra in January 1989.
  • February 20: Captain Richard Koehler will share his experiences of flying the A-6 Intruder, a Navy attack aircraft, during the Vietnam War.
  • March 20: Anita Mack will share her story of what it was like to serve as a member of the first all-female C-130 crew in combat.

All Speaker Series events begin at 7 p.m. and are free to attend for EAA members and $5 for nonmembers. Speaker Series is sponsored by Alro Steel & Plastics, C.E. Doyle, Capital Credit Union, Community First Credit Union, Kwik Trip, Pilotsmith, Sargento, and The Taqueria.

Winter Flight Fest will take place on Saturday, February 8, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Activities will be set up across the museum demonstrating different aspects of aviation. The activities are for all ages and include a Wright Flyer simulator, rotorcrafting, and a pararescue challenge. Weather permitting, a skiplane fly-in is also scheduled. Attendees will be able to walk out to Pioneer Airport and get an up-close look at a unique sector of aviation. All activities are included with regular museum admission. Story Time continues in 2025 with a full slate of themes and activities. Taking place on select Thursdays from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., Story Time has children ages 3-5 explore aviation-related topics through a story read aloud by one of EAA’s educators and an accompanying activity. The next event is scheduled for January 23 with a theme of flying animals and a paper bat activity. Story Time is included with regular museum admission, with children 5 and under being admitted for free.
