There were 12 traffic fatalities on Fond du Lac County roadways in Fond du Lac County last year. Sheriff’s captain Chris Randall says that’s close to the five year average of 11.8. Randall says alcohol and or drugs were factors in several of the fatal crashes. “Four of those contributing factors to those fatalities were impairment. Two of the fatal crashes were alcohol-related, blood-alcohol concentrations of .27 and .31 percent,” Randall told WFDL news. Randall says some of the victims were either not wearing a seatbelt or motorcycle helmet. “There were two motorcycle fatalities in Fond du Lac County. Both of those did not have helmets on,” Randall said. “Five of the motor vehicle fatalities did not have safety belts.” Randall says there were 2,224 crashes in the county that did not involve deer, and 688 crashes involving deer.
