The SSM Health Waupun Memorial Hospital Medical Staff has donated $5,000 to the Waupun Food Pantry.   In every single county across the country, families are feeling the effects of food insecurity. Families without access to adequate food are turning to local food banks to stock their pantries and fill their refrigerators. According to Feeding America, 49 million people in the United States relied on food banks and other programs to help put food on the table in 2022.   “I am so proud of how the SSM Health Waupun Memorial Hospital Medical Staff is so engaged and supportive of our community, and this donation is just one example,” according to DeAnn Thurmer, SSM Health Waupun Memorial Hospital president. “We appreciate the role Waupun Food Pantry plays in our community. We have so many wonderful community members in our area who all pull together to lend a helping hand. It is a collective effort to counter the effects of food insecurity.”    The donation was presented to Terri Respalje, Waupun Food Pantry manager, by Thurmer; Robert Nagle, DO, chief of staff; BreAnna Nagle, MD, past chief of staff; and Nicole Gill, SSM Health Waupun Memorial Hospital VP, clinical administrator.   “As with other food pantries, we continue to see a need for healthy meals in our community,” according to Respalje. “We’re getting more families in addition to senior citizens and single people we are serving. We want children to be able to go to school healthy so they can advance. That’s so important. This kind donation will help greatly supply the food pantry.”
