2-5-25 waupun common council to consider 27% sewer rate increase

The Waupun Common Council this month is expected to approve a sewer rate increase that will help pay for improvements  made to the city’s wastewater treatment plant to meet new phosphorous requirements.   Mayor Rohn Bishop says the 27 percent increase will result in the average customer paying about $7 more a month on their utility bill.  In the end, Bishop says the city needs to do this to meet the state DNR permit requirements.   He says one positive is that Waupun is environmentally responsible with the cleanest wastewater discharge in the state.
