Madison, WI—Today, Representative Mark Born (R-Beaver Dam) released the following statement in response to Governor Evers’ Budget Address:
“Governor Evers has shown once again that he believes he alone knows what is best for the use of your money. Instead of working with Republicans to address the needs of the state, Governor Evers is more focused on fighting for liberal wish-list items and tax and spend policies here at home. “I remain committed to working for what you want to see from your government. Return more of your hard-earned tax dollars to you, invest in priorities like roads, infrastructure, and keeping our communities safe, while ensuring that we cut wasteful government spending. “We have consistently put forward responsible budgets that have invested in our priorities, provided real tax relief, and cut government positions. We will continue to work to find additional efficiencies to reduce the size of government and reign-in government overreach. “Governor Evers has once again proposed massive tax increases on Wisconsinites. Legislative Republicans will begin the budget from the current base funding and work to put together a responsible plan for our state finances. “I look forward to working with my legislative colleagues to craft a budget that Wisconsin can be proud of.
