A high speed pursuit in Fond du Lac and Winnebago counties was terminated, but not before law enforcement was able to identify the driver who will face charges when he is eventually arrested. The first chase started shortly before 11am Thursday when a Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop a speeding vehicle on Interstate 41 near Townline Road. The vehicle was operated by a man previously known to law enforcement, with active warrants for his arrest. The chase continued northbound on 41 until the vehicle exited onto Highway 26 in Winnebago County, to Highway 45 where the chase was terminated. Another deputy later spotted the vehicle driving erratically on Van Dyne Road and another chase ensued. Given the potential danger as the vehicle neared the city of Oshkosh the chase was again terminated. The driver faces multiple charges when he is arrested including Felony Eluding and First Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety. The pursuit spanned a total of 23.5 miles, with the initial segment covering 8 miles and the subsequent pursuit totaling 15.5 miles.
