Republican congressman Glenn Grothman says he was glad to be able to give his side at a recent town hall event where citizens packed the meeting room to question massive cuts in the federal workforce and president Trump’s rhetoric on Ukraine. Grothman notes the Winnebago County Democratic party had encouraged people to attend the meeting to voice their concerns. Grothman says he’s surprised that more of his liberal constituents aren’t supporting DOGE efforts to look for waste in the Department of Defense. Grothman says he doesn’t have a problem with how swiftly the cuts are being made. “Obviously Donald Trump is moving quickly, but I think that’s because in his first term he found out how quickly four years goes by,” Grothman told WFDL news. “I applaud him for trying to greatly reduce the federal workforce.” Grothman says he looks forward to continuing to hear from constituents at future town hall meetings.
