3-21-25 local unemployment rate spikes to start the new year

The local unemployment rate jumped significantly to start the new year.  The state Department of Workforce Development says the January unemployment rate  in Dodge County was 3.1 percent..up from 2.4 percent in December.  The Fond du Lac County rate was up seven-tenths of a percent to 3.3 percent.   The city of Fond du lac’s jobless rate in January was 3.8 percent, up from 3.1  percent in December.  The preliminary unemployment rates increased in  all 13 metropolitan areas  over the month, and all but one of Wisconsin’s 72 counties.
