3-25-25 second defendant in shooting death of fdl man gets long prison sentence

A second man convicted in the shooting death of a Fond du Lac man is going to prison.   Fond du Lac judge Trisha Walker has sentenced Eric Perry to 50 years in prison and 20 years extended supervision.   As part of a plea agreement in December Perry pleaded no contest to Second Degree Intentional Homicide as a repeater and Armed Robbery in the October 2021 shooting death of Benzel Rose.  The 26 year old Rose was found dead inside an 8th Street home with a gunshot wound to his head.  District Attorney Toney stated “We will always work with our law enforcement partners to aggressively prosecute gun violence anywhere in our community to protect the safety of everyone, regardless of who they are or where they live. Gun violence will never be accepted in Fond du Lac County and if you commit gun violence in our community you can expect a prison sentence.”  Julius Freeman was earlier convicted of First Degree Intentional Homicide and Armed Robbery and sentenced to life in prison with eligibility for release after 35 years.
