MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Voting is underway in an election that will decide majority control of the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Tuesday’s race has broken records for spending and become a proxy battle for the nation’s political fights. Republicans who lined up behind candidate Brad Schimel included President Donald Trump and his adviser Elon Musk, the world’s wealthiest person. Susan Crawford was backed by Democrats including former President Barack Obama and billionaire megadonor George Soros. The vote is the first major election since November and is seen as a litmus test of how the electorate feels about Trump’s chaotic first months back in office. The court is expected to be deciding cases on abortion, public-sector unions, voting rules and congressional district boundaries.
