The Fond du Lac Police Department is investigating the death of a motorcyclist in Fond du Lac as a homicide. Police say shortly after 7pm last Friday a car intentionally swerved into the path of a motorcycle on South Main Street causing the motorcycle to crash into the driver’s side of the vehicle. The motorcycle operator, 26 year old Elijah Nathaniel Sowin of Eden was pronounced dead at the hospital. The driver of the car, 67 year old Mark Snider of Fond du lac, is being held in the Fond du Lac County Jail on charges of second degree reckless homicide, and first degree recklessly endangering safety with use of a dangerous weapon. Police did not give a motive. Police Chief Aaron Goldstein stated, “This was not an accident, but a deliberate and dangerous act that led directly to the death of a young man from our greater Fond du Lac community. Reckless driving, especially actions intended to harm or endanger others will not be tolerated. This tragedy could have been avoided. We are dedicated to ensuring that those responsible for crimes that endanger public safety are held accountable for their actions. Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family and friends during this difficult time.” Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police.
