MADISON – Wisconsin Safety Council – the state’s leading provider of safety training and products – announced the winners of the organization’s 31st annual Workplace Safety Awards on Thursday. The program, sponsored by Wisconsin’s Department of Workforce Development and M3 Insurance, recognizes Wisconsin companies that are dedicated to prioritizing a culture of safety in the workplace and have maintained exceptional safety records. “Prioritizing safety is often the gift that keeps on giving,” said Wisconsin Safety Council Executive Director Aaron Huebner. “A safe working environment will likely directly result in better camaraderie and employee satisfaction, higher efficiency, increased product quality, and more. Most importantly, though, a safe workplace means that employees go home to their families in the same condition they came – whole and healthy. Thank you and congratulations to these companies, who worked hard to keep their whole team safe this year.”

A panel of independent safety, health and insurance professionals selected the winners based on company safety records, training programs, safety and health leadership, and other accomplishments. The awards were distributed based on company size in three categories: Manufacturing; Agriculture, Transportation, Utilities & Other; and Construction. “Many employers throughout our state every day demonstrate their commitment to keeping workers safe and healthy on the job, and we’re happy to help recognize their efforts,” said Department of Workforce Development Secretary Amy Pechacek. “These are the kinds of commitments that give Wisconsin employers a competitive edge in attracting and retaining members of our best-in-class workforce. Fewer injuries also mean workers and employers can focus on meeting production schedules and delivering quality products and customer service.” The Workplace Safety Awards, previously known as the Corporate Safety Awards, were renamed this year to put more emphasis on the team members who promote safety and well-being, highlighting the joint effort required to maintain safe workplaces. “At M3 Insurance, we believe that a safe workplace is fundamental to the success of any business and the prosperity of our state,” said Chris Halverson, Senior Director of Risk Management at M3 Insurance. “We’re honored to sponsor these awards and recognize the companies and individuals who go above and beyond to ensure the safety of their employees and communities.” The awards will be presented to representatives from each of the companies at the Wisconsin Safety Council’s Annual Conference, held April 14-16 in the Wisconsin Dells.
