Moraine Park Technical College is making one last push for their major building referendum to upgrade programs and facilities. College president Bonnie Baerwald says the $55 million referendum is vital to making changes and growth happen at a time when technology and automation are influencing industry so rapidly. The referendum would allow Moraine Park to borrow funds for four major projects including renovating the manufacturing and trade center, and the health services and nursing wing at the Fond du Lac campus, a remodeling project at the West Bend campus and a regional fire training center. Baerwald says because the referendum is spread out over ten counties in the entire MPTC District the overall tax impact is relatively low. Baerwald says if the referendum does not pass it would take more than two decades to do remodeling and capital expansion projects to meet the needs in area workplaces.
