Nobody was injured in a fire that forced the evacuation of a 16 unit apartment complex in Fond du Lac. Division Chief of Community Risk Reduction and Life Safety with Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue Jason Roberts says firefighters were called to 394 Pine Tree Drive at 5pm Sunday. Roberts says when firefighters arrived they encountered flames and smoke coming from a second story balcony and exterior of the apartment structure. Tennants were evacuated and firefighters quickly brought the fire under control minimizing damage to the exterior and attic area. All occupants were allowed to return to their apartments after the building was ventilated. An investigation determined the fire started on the second floor balcony from improperly discarded smoking materials.
