A suspect in a domestic violence stabbing incident in Fond du Lac earlier this year is in custody. Forty six year old Lataye Smith, was arrested without incident by U.S. Marshals in Chicago. He is awaiting extradition to Wisconsin to face a charge of Attempted First Degree Intentional Homicide. Smith is accused of attacking a 39 year old Fond du Lac woman in January at her South Main Street apartment. She escaped to the Fond du Lac Police Department after being cut multiple times by a knife, receiving lacerations to her neck and arms. Police Chief Aaron Goldstein said, “The arrest of Smith reflects FDLPD’s commitment to holding individuals accountable and bringing justice to the survivors and victims of violent crime.” “We continue to show that for those who commit violent crimes in our community, FDLPD will not rest until you are found and in custody,” Goldstein said.
