Most likely you know someone who is struggling with addiction but don’t know how to help or where to go. Fond du Lac County has several local resources available to assist with treatment, recovery, or to lend a listening ear or helping hand. “Substance use disorders are more prevalent than heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, and migraines, yet
misconceptions and stigma have left many people afraid to talk about their experiences or to seek help.” (Stamp Out Stigma). It’s time to talk about it. Having these conversations is crucial to building a community of support and breaking down barriers to recovery. Fond du Lac County Health Department, Community Medical Services (CMS), and WI Voices for Recovery are hosting a Stigma Awareness event to unite the community in raising awareness on stigma and the barriers it creates to individuals seeking recovery. Join us in stamping out stigma!
