8-23-23 fdl symphonic band wraps up summer season at fairgrounds rec building

The Fond du Lac Symphonic Band wraps up its 125th anniversary summer season with Alumni Night and “Fan Favorites” on Wed., August 23.  Under the baton of Music Director Evan Chancellor, the 7:15 p.m. performance will take place at the Fond du Lac County Fairgrounds Recreation Building.   The program will be a potpourri of music from the band’s  summer series of concerts as voted on by the audience and band members. Music from the 125th Anniversary Concert includes Glenn Miller in Concert and Themes Like Old Times, and from the July 4 Americana concert, the band will play American Salute.   Superman Suite, Mask of Zorro and Pirates of the Caribbean: World’s End will represent the “At the Movies” concert; Italian Polka was chosen from Family Night – Let’s Dance!   Rounding out the program are Fantasy on American Sailing Songs, Irish Tune from County Derry, Clarinet Polka and The Klaxon March from the Festival of Folk Tunes concert. The concert will end with band alumni joining with the band to play the official march of the United States: Stars and Stripes Forever by Sousa.  The Symphonic Band’s summer park concerts are sponsored by the City of Fond du Lac and a free-will offering that will be received during the evening. The food concession will be hosted by the youth of Church of Our Saviour, who have the distinction of having hosted at band concerts continuously since the program began in 1976!
