10-20-23 statewide unemployment rate up

The statewide unemployment rate was up slightly last month, but still below the national average.  Wisconsin’s unemployment rate for September was 3.1 percent, up from 2.9 percent in August, but below the national unemployment rate of 3.8 percent.  The state Department of Worforce Development says Wisconsin’s total non-farm jobs hit another record high of slightly over 3 million.  The total labor force grew by 5,400 and employment decreased by 1,800 over the previous month.
