Mayor Rohn Bishop has announced his bid for reelection as Mayor of Waupun. With the election slated for April 2, 2024, Mayor Rohn is eager to build on the impressive accomplishments of his first term. Under Mayor Rohn’s leadership, Waupun witnessed transformative achievements:
– Rejection of the transportation utility fee
-Restoring city pride by flying and displaying the city flag
– The return of Waupun’s identity as the “City of Sculpture,” marked by distinctive updated wayfinding signs. Signs that were fixed at no cost to the taxpayer!
– Prompt action to repair the Main Street railroad crossing, prioritizing safety and infrastructure.
– Securing a transparent and effective contract for city-wide garbage and recycling collection.
– Championing the re-dedication and fundraising for the centennial of the Recording Angel sculpture, Waupun’s heritage gem.
– The successful “Buy Local” initiative to boost the City’s ability to buy local.
-Has improved the working relationship with our state legislators
– Securing unanimous City Council approval for a combined $200,000 investment into the community – $100,000 for Waupun Hockey Association’s ice rink floor replacement and another $100,000 for new turf at the Baseball Complex.
Reflecting on his term, Mayor Rohn stated, “Together, we’ve strengthened our community’s foundation, both culturally and infrastructurally. From the United project in the business park, to all the projects you see downtown, Waupun really does have it going on! For all these reasons, I’m hopeful to keep our momentum going, and that’s why today, I’m announcing that I am seeking another term as your mayor, and am running for re-election!”
