Wisconsin ranked number one in the United States for last spring’s Drug Take Back Day according to the state Department of Justice. The state collected the most unwanted prescription medications totaling more than 55,000 pounds. The fall Drug Take Back Day was held Saturday. Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says the day was meant to provide people with a safe, easy and responsible way to dispose of their unwanted or expired medications. Since the program began in 2010, Wisconsin has collected over 1 million pounds in unwanted medications.
