A new Fond du Lac warming shelter is opening this week. The Holy Family Warming Shelter is located at 73 East First Street. Holy Family Catholic Community spokeswoman Sarah Razner says starting Wednesday evening the shelter will serve up to 30 individuals every night through April. Meanwhile, on Tuesday, November 28 – Giving Tuesday – Holy Family, the St. Katharine Drexel Shelter and Fond du Lac County United Way will partner to raise awareness and funds for those experiencing homelessness in the Fond du Lac community. From 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, volunteers will be outside the St. Katharine Drexel Shelter, 358 N. Peters Ave., Fond du Lac, to stand in solidarity with those who are homeless. The public is invited to stop by the shelter during that time to learn more about homelessness and consider making a monetary donation or contributing needed items to support those in need at the shelters and in the Fond du Lac community.
