– Envision Greater Fond du Lac’s Ag Ambassador program, directed by the Agri-Business Council, received the 2023 Classroom Agriculture Literacy Leadership (ALL) Award on December 3, 2023. The ALL Award was established in 2022 to honor the ongoing work of volunteers who continually contribute leadership in advancing agriculture literacy through shared time, talents and creativity. “It is such an honor to receive this award,” Amy Ries, Director of Agriculture Programs, Envision Greater Fond du Lac, said. “We truly enjoy visiting classrooms to educate students about where our food comes from and the producers who make it. Educating the next generation is important to sustaining an agricultural-friendly community.” The Agricultural Ambassador program was developed out of a need to educate and inform adults and youth about the production and nutritional value of agricultural products produced in our community or state, as well as the impact agriculture has on our daily lives. The Agricultural Ambassadors present various educational programs in schools throughout the Fond du Lac area free of charge. Topics include health and nutrition, consumer buying habits, food safety, economics, agricultural careers and agricultural production.
