2-20-24 state assembly approves human trafficking bills

The state assembly has passed a package of bills designed to crack down on human trafficking.   The seven bills would increase awareness, impose tougher punishments for soliciting prostitutes and make it easier for victims to sue traffickers.  Republican state representative Jerry O’Connor of Fond du Lac chaired the Speaker’s Task Force on Human Trafficking.   O’Connor says at the end of the day the task force wanted to make a difference and not just take up space at the Capitol for four months.
