Madison, WI – State Senator Dan Feyen (R-Fond du Lac) released the following statement after Governor Tony Evers vetoed 3 legislative Republican Proposals to cut taxes for middle-class families. “Prices continue to rise for middle class Wisconsin families. Gas, groceries, utilities – all the basic necessities in a family budget – are skyrocketing out of control. Wisconsinites need relief now. “Last week, my Republican colleagues and I sent the Governor several proposals to cut taxes, including a massive middle-class tax cut that hardworking Wisconsin families desperately need. With a stroke of his veto pen, Governor Evers unilaterally decided that Wisconsinites don’t deserve a tax cut. “The state is projected to have a $3 billion surplus at the end of this budget cycle. Holding $3 billion of taxpayer money hostage in Madison while inflation is ravaging the middle class is the definition of big government at work. When I was elected, I promised to fight for a smaller, smarter government. Keeping $3 billion in the Madison coffers is neither small, nor smart. “A budget surplus means the government has taken too much of Wisconsinites’ hard-earned money. We will keep fighting to get the $3 billion back to Wisconsin taxpayers.”
