Nobody was injured in a fire that damaged a garage in Fond du Lac County. Shortly before 8am Tuesday firefighters were called to a residence at N6708 Karst Drive from a passerby who reported smoke coming from the garage door. A sheriff’s deputy helped a 71-year-old man safely exit the residence along with two pet dogs. The Lamartine Fire Department, with assistance from the City of Fond du Lac, Town of Fond du Lac, Village of Rosendale, and Village of North Fond du Lac, Fire Departments quickly extinguished the fire before it could spread. Items in the attached garage were a total loss. There was minor smoke damage inside the house. The fire is believed to have started along a wall of the garage where the homeowner was charging multiple lithium ion batteries for remote-controlled vehicles.
