The North Fond du Lac Police and Fire Commission has appointed Pete Vergos as the new police chief. Vergos has been serving as acting chief since Darren Pautsch retired in January. He will officially take over as chief April first. “The people here are great. We have wonderful relationships,” Vergos told WFDL news. “Countywide the relationships between all agencies are probably the best I’ve ever seen in years.” Vergos previously worked in the North Fond du Lac Police Department from 2003 to 2008 before joining the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office where he spent 13 years. He returned to the North Fond du Lac PD two years ago.
