It was a homecoming Wednesday for Wisconsin governor Tony Evers. Evers returned to Oakfield where he was the school district superintendent from 1980 to 1984. “It’s always good to come back to Oakfield,” the governor told WFDL news. “We spent four good years here and it’s a really special community.” Led by Oakfield school officials Evers toured the newly remodeled Oakfield Middle-High School building, talking with students and teachers. “It’s one of those things where you have to have good leadership to do it (referendums) and the Oakfield community should be very proud,” Evers said. The governor says the remodel looks great and he says the kids seem to be responding very well. Voters approved the $16 million referendum two years ago.
