A Florida man was arrested following a high speed chase in Fond du Lac County. It started shortly before 1am Sunday on Highway 23 and Whispering Springs Drive when a deputy clocked a vehicle at 116 miles an hour. The vehicle continued westbound in the eastbound lane of 23, struck a curb near Prairie Road, across a terrace and parking lot before coming to a stop. The driver fled on foot and was quickly apprehended. The driver was identified as a 44-year-old male from Saint Petersburg, Florida. The suspect is being held at the Fond du Lac County Jail for Vehicle Operator Flee and Elude Officers, Recklessly Endanger Safety, Operate While Intoxicated, Possession of
Psilocin/Psilocybin and Resisting and Obstructing an Officer. He was also cited for several traffic violations. The pursuit lasted 2.1 miles. The suspect vehicle sustained minor damage to the front passenger tire while the driver was attempting to evade Law Enforcement. Nobody was injured during the pursuit.
