The president of the Fond du Lac Advisory Park Board says he is feeling a sense of loss after learning that many iconic holiday decorations were lost in a fire that destroyed a Fond du Lac Parks Department storage building at Lakeside Park. John Papenheim says many of the decorations date back to the 1950s. Papenheim says the decorations with lights were stored in the building that was destroyed. He says some of the older silhouettes, and wood cutouts were stored in a different building. In addition to the holiday decorations equipment was destroyed including lawnmowers, a truck and gaters. Meanwhile, Papenheim says the park was closed Tuesday morning after thunderstorms moved through causing damage. Papenheim says parks crews were using their own equipment to pick up some of the debris.
