A spokesperson for a Wisconsin environmental group says a Wisconsin state board’s vote to prohibit its employees from working on global warming issues on state time is petty politics. The Board of Commissioners of Public lands voted 2-1 Tuesday to institute the ban. Republican state treasurer Matt Adamczyk, one of the board members, proposed the ban. He said he believes board executive Secretary, Tia Nelson, worked on global warming issues on board time. Amber Meyer Smith is with the group Clean Wisconsin. “All I can really say is it’s surreal,” Meyer-Smith told AM 1170 WFDL’s Between the Lines program. “Its really surreal that Gaylord Nelson’s daughter is going to be prohibited from talking about one of the biggest natural resources issues that we face right now.” Nelson is the daughter of former Wisconsin Gov. Gaylord Nelson, a renowned conservationist who founded Earth Day.
