11-26-24 state of lung cancer report

A new State of Lung Cancer report has mixed news for Wisconsin.  American Lung Association’s Molly Collins says Wisconsin’s rate for new lung cancer cases ranked higher than the national average.  Collins says Wisconsin is ninth in the nation for cases diagnosed at an early stage with a rate also higher than the national average.  Wisconsin ranked 12th in the nation for lung-cancer screening at 19.2 percent.  Nationally, only 16 percent of those at high risk were screened.  Overall the report found the lung cancer survival rate improved 26 percent in the last five years due to increased awareness and advancements in detection and treatment.
