11-28-24 record travel for thanksgiving holiday

Wisconsin residents are hitting the road in record numbers for the long Thanksgiving holiday.  Nationwide AAA projects nearly 80 million people will travel 50 miles or more from home through Monday December 2.   AAA spokesman Brian Ortner says that’s 1.7 million more travelers than last year and two million more than in 2019.   Ortner says  Thanksgiving is the busiest holiday for travel and new records are expected for driving, flying and cruises.   Low gas prices are expected to fuel record travel with the national average possibly below $3 a gallon for the first time since 2021.
