Wisconsinites are expected to travel in record numbers for the year-end holiday period. From Saturday December 21 to Wednesday January 1 AAA predicts 2.39 million Wisconsinites will travel 50 miles or more from home. AAA spokeswoman Molly Hart says thats 76,278 more travelers than last year’s previous record high. Nationwide AAA expects 3 million more travelers than last year with more than 119 million people traveling 50 miles or more. Hart says people should expect roads, airports and cruise terminals to be more crowded than normal. Travel volume is being driven by consumer spending as inflation continues to moderate. During the last two weeks gas prices in Wisconsin averaged $2.74 a gallon. Sunday, December 22 is expected to be the nation’s worst day to travel.
