12-23-24 fdl-based animal rescue organization receives major grant

Sandi Paws Rescue, an animal rescue organization based in Fond du Lac, is the recipient of a $12,500 grant from the Thrivent Carols for a Cause program.  Sandi Paws took second place in the contest that asked the public to vote Dec. 8 to 14 for their favorite of five selected organizations.   Logan DeMaa, a financial advisor with Thrivent who nominated Sandi Paws for the program, said the organization is near and dear to his heart.  “My wife and I adopted a dog from Sandi Paws when we moved back here in 2018,” DeMaa said. “I love everything about them. They have helped so many dogs and rarely say no when asked to help.”   “My heart is full,” said Sandi Paws CEO Victoria Timreck. “We run on donations and something like this, especially coming at the end of our year, will help us help so many animals.”  Thrivent’s Carols for a Cause, a program of its eastern Wisconsin and Upper Michigan member network, provided $50,000 in community grants to five regional organizations. First place and $15,000 went to Vida Medical Clinic Parent Support Services and Maternity Home in Appleton. Thrivent has long worked with non-profit organizations through its action teams.
