Three people were injured and several pets died in a fire that destroyed a house in Fond du Lac County. Shortly before 3am Friday firefighters were called to t he scene on Highway KK in the town of Metomen for a report of a house on fire and occupants jumping from the second story to escape the flames. A Sheriff’s deputy arrived on the scene and observed an explosion from the home. The property owner, Jeffrey Kraemer, was not present at the time of the fire. Approximately five dogs and six cats died in the fire. One person was seriously injured while jumping from the second story and was flown by helicopter to a hospital. Two other residents were treated for smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.
