What are Downtown FDL Gift Checks?
Downtown FDL gift checks are pre-printed checks that can purchased in denominations of $10, $25, or $50 and used at any participating downtown Fond du Lac business.
What is the difference between the existing Downtown gift certificates and the new Downtown gift checks?
Downtown FDL Gift Certificates and Downtown FDL Gift checks differ in appearance, but the main difference is the fact that gift checks can be deposited directly into the recipient business’s account, eliminating the need to seek reimbursement from the DFP first.
How do the new gift checks work?
When a customer presents a gift check as payment, fill in your business’s name in the “Redeemed at” field and provide any change needed in cash. Then simply deposit the gift check into the appropriate business account of your choosing. Done and done!
When will the DFP begin selling these new gift checks?

Will existing gift certificates already in circulation still be valid?
Yes! The “old” gift certificates currently in circulation should continue to be accepted until the expiration date printed on them, and redeemed the same way we’ve done in the past – submitting to DFP for reimbursement.
How do I make sure my business is enrolled to accept the new downtown FDL gift checks?
All 70 businesses currently enrolled in our gift certificate program will be automatically enrolled in the new gift check program (Click here to see a list of current participating businesses.).
Businesses who are not currently enrolled can opt-in to the program at any time by contacting Darcie Holte, Office Coordinator, at hello@downtownfdl.com.
