Clean up continues in Columbus after strong straight line winds toppled trees and power lines early Monday morning. Mayor Kelly Crombie says the community looks a lot better today than it did three days ago. “There wasn’t a whole lot of structural damage, there were a number of homes with significant damage, but there were no total losses,” Crombie told AM 1170 WFDL’s Between the Lines program. Crombie says damage estimates are still being compiled and the city hopes to receive disaster aid to reimburse the community for the clean-up costs. Crombie says the state of emergency will remain in effect probably through the rest of the week. Crombie says he is proud of the way the community has come together to help.
