7-23-15 prairie fest

Celebrate nature, art, family activities plus plant and wildlife diversity at this year’s Prairie Fest on Saturday, July 25th, 2015 from 10 AM to 3 PM  at the beautiful Gottfried Prairie and Arboretum, UW-Fond du Lac Campus, 400 University Drive, Fond du Lac.   Prairie Fest is a FREE family-oriented environmental education event featuring prairie tours, arts, vendors, demonstrations, presentations and children activities.  Children are encouraged to visit the Prairie Play Zone where they can make sun prints, construct and decorate garden hats, create shoe planters, play carnival games and putt a round or two on our 3 hole mini golf area.  The Fond du Lac County Audubon will also have a bird banding activity.  Prairie Fest’s featured speaker is Rob Zimmer, also known as the Yard M.D.  Zimmer will present Monarchs and Milkweed at 11 AM and share his photography collection of lesser known Prairie plants at 1 PM. Throughout the day, families can also enjoy great food, an art show displaying the works of the kids who attended Art in the Prairie, entertainment by Shady Grove, prairie tours, a rain barrel auction, and many more vendors and activities.  Yoga on the Prairie will also be back with an hour long outdoor session starting at 9 AM.  The event is sponsored by Grande Cheese, Fond du Lac Area Foundation, Alliant Energy Foundation, Fond du Lac Noon Rotary Club, Fond du Lac Morning Rotary, 91.1 The Avenue, Horicon Bank, and Master Gardeners Association of Fond du Lac County.  For a complete schedule of activities, visit Prairie Fest’s website at http://gottfriedprairiearboretum.org/prairie-fest/.
