MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Ted Cruz says there is a risk that Donald Trump supporters would bolt from the Republican Party if he loses the nomination at the GOP convention this summer. That’s why Cruz said on Thursday that the best course is for the Texas senator to win a majority of the delegates before then. Cruz says there is a risk that Trump “takes his marbles and goes home and throws a fit. I hope he doesn’t.” Cruz says his focus is on unifying delegates behind his campaign, and notes that five former candidates for president are now backing him. Cruz also says a Trump nomination would mean Republicans lose majority control of the Senate and possibly the House as well.
