Six area students were recognized by the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation at an awards luncheon Sunday. The awards honor the achievements of students and educators who are receiving foundation awards. Madeline McGauley, from Beaver Dam High School, Samuel Meier, at Fond du Lac High School, and Serena Pritchard, from Waupun Central Wisconsin Christian School are Excellence Scholars winners. Taylor Carpenter from North Fond du Lac Horace Mann High School, Brandon Castillo, Beaver Dam Don Smith Learning Academy, and Chase Witthun at Laconia High School, are Initiative Scholars. Beaver Dam Middle School teacher Mallory Lindert is a teacher fellowship winner.
