MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Gov. Scott Walker is touring the state’s technical colleges rather than speak at a meeting of the University of Wisconsin Board of Regents. Walker planned to visit five technical colleges on Thursday starting with the Milwaukee Area Technical College in Oak Creek and ending with Madison College. The tour comes just two days after Walker won re-election to a second term. On Wednesday, one of the Republican co-chairs of the Legislature’s budget committee signaled that UW was unlikely to get the $95 million in additional funding it wants. The regents are meeting in Madison on Thursday and had invited both Walker and his Democratic challenger Mary Burke to attend, depending on who won. Walker instead opted to tour the technical colleges.
