An elderly Campbellsport woman was killed and an elderly man was critically injured in a car vs. tree crash in Campbellsport. The crash happened Tuesday morning at the intersection of Helena Street and East Main Street in the village of Campbellsport. A preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle was northbound on Helena Street at a high rate of speed when it travelled off the roadway for unknown reasons and struck the tree. The front seat passenger, an 87-year-old Campbellsport woman, died at the scene. The driver, a 90-year-old Campbellsport man, was extricated from the vehicle and transported to St. Agnes Hospital with life threatening injuries. Both were wearing seatbelts. The crash remains under investigation by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.
