Nearly a year after a proposal to rezone residential property to allow for expansion of a used truck dealership in Fond du lac was withdrawn, the issue is coming back before the city council. Lenz Truck wants property adjacent to a condominium development rezoned to allow for a parking lot and maintenance building. The initial request was met with opposition from residents who say they bought
their condo thinking the adjacent property was always going to be residential. Those residents have signed a petition in opposition to the proposal. City Planner Joellyn Dahlin is recommending against the rezoning request, and the Fond du Lac Plan Commission last week recommended denial. “There are a number of unanswered questions that factored into our recommendation,” Dahlin told WFDL news. “…which has to do with shoreland wetland zoning, DNR wetlands access for the properties, stormwater management, drainage and land division,’ Dahlin said. Dahlin said the rezoning also goes against the city’s comprehensive plan. Dahlin says she understands the neighbors concerns that a buffer between
the properties would not be a solution.
