10-18-17 waupun community job fair

The City of Waupun and Waupun Area School District have teamed up to host to the Pathways & Partnerships Community Job Fair on Monday, Oct. 30, from 3:30 to 6 p.m.   Located at the Waupun Area Junior/Senior High School, 801 E. Lincoln St., this event started as a way for the school to connect students to employers and to help students learn about various career pathways. In 2017 – with the support of the City – Pathways & Partnerships will grow to also include a free job fair open to the community that features more than 45 Waupun-area businesses.   “As part of Waupun’s economic development plan, we’re focusing on three areas: growing the local economy, developing and maintaining a strong workforce, and engaging the community,” explained Kathy Schlieve, city administrator and director of economic development. “Developing a strong work force starts with educating our students on the career opportunities available in the community and maintaining a strong work force includes finding ways to promote—and fill—the jobs that are available in our back yard. Joining forces with the School District to expand this event and open it up to the community was a perfect opportunity to highlight careers for the students and match job seekers to local companies that are hiring.”   There is no need to pre-register to attend. To learn more about attending Pathways & Partnerships or to sign up your business to participate, please contact Doug Disch, WASD career and technical education coordinator at ddisch@waupun.k12.wi.us.
